The selection process at IIM A consists of Academic Writing Test (AWT), case discussion and personal interview round.
Feedback – Academic Writing Test (AWT)

Word Limit: 250-300 words
Instructions for AWT- How well reasoned do you find this argument. State how do you find authors line of reasoning. How would you be able to strengthen/weaken the argument? Do you find the conclusion plausible? Give your views regarding the same.
- Development in metro cities is resulting in broken families and making people insensitive toward one another. Write 5-6 sentence arguments and 2 sentences for conclusion.
- School uniform should not be made compulsory as school cannot decide what to wear? Also, it restricts the individual thinking so at first place uniforms in school should be removed.

Why meditation? (Candidate mentioned reading, writing and meditation as his hobbies). How good are you in maths? But you've written that you don't want maths preparatory class at IIM A. Why? Tell me about Laplace transformation. (Some questions related to civil engineering subjects were asked) Why MBA? In your resume you have mentioned about your internship at K. Raheja corp. Tell us more about it. So you must have seen managers earning much more than a civil engineer and then you decided to do MBA and be like them. Is it the reason? Why not continue in your field? Tell me how would you construct a metro in a city and factors involved. Can you tell me something about Bhupen Hazarika? You're an Indian citizen so tell me name of presidents of our country from start till end. Do you know Deepa Karmakar? Tell me names of seven sisters of India.

You've done a research paper on the topic "Mapping Global and Indian Income Inequalities". What was it about? Can you draw a Lorenz curve? Why to measure inequality? How will new apps like Uber, Airbnb, etc impact inequality? Suppose there is an en economy where 90% of people are above the poverty line, and the rest are 10% are too, but are very rich. Is this also bad and unequal? So you had a drop? You're from Bhopal. Tell us something about Bhopal. Isn't that Udaipur? As an economist, how do you feel about farm loan them to ask me this. Why are NPAs not given as much attention as these waivers, even when size of NPAs is six times of them. Explain what's the IBC? Why do NPAs occur in the first place? And how is IBC changing this?

There are talks going on that direct taxes should be removed from country? What are your views? Are there any countries who are having no taxes? Why cannot India manage? and can you give a reason as to why people are saying DT can be removed? Name some countries. So you are saying that Arab government gets revenues from oil basically? There are no taxes and government controls the resources and gets revenues from that? Basically government controls resources there? Why do you think government still needs DT? So you mean that Mr. Ambani eats Parle G? US has reduced corporate taxes and are still managing fiscal deficit? Can you explain? Why do you need a CA degree to do taxation? How CA helps you in taxation? No but all provisions can be found on google. How does CA help you..human touch or something…? Why have you done CS and CWA…was there any need. So you gave CS and CWA as mock tests? Your UG marks are low. Why? CA CS CWA and Bcom have lot of subjects in common…no? So which subjects you were not able to devote time to? What is your view on the AWA thing.. Uniform ban? But that is your view. Have you not thought in other way.. may be someone in your class wore new shirt, new blazer..Does it not affect the mindset? In army and courts they have rules to follow that’s why they have to wear. You think they personally would want to wear the same dress? So what did you do in your free time while studying?
