To gain admission to the best business schools, you must achieve a high score in the Common Admissions Test (CAT)
or similar other entrance tests. Once done with that, you will need to pass a few more rounds before you can be
officially admitted. If you are likely to head to the reputed Institute of Management and Technology (IMT), then
you better get ready for the next rounds of selection. At this point, you will be on the battleground with the
applicants, who have been carefully chosen from a wide range of demographics and experiences.
Candidates seeking admission to the Postgraduate Diploma in Management (PGDM)/ Master of Business Administration
(MBA) are evaluated based on how well they match the program's academic and professional requirements.
About IMT
The Institute of Management Technology (IMT) in Ghaziabad was founded in 1980 and is recognised as one of the top
business schools in the country by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). For all
three campuses (Ghaziabad, Nagpur, Hyderabad), IMT follows a common admissions procedure. It provides a variety
of management courses, such as full-time PGDM (General/ Marketing/ Finance), PGDM BFS (Banking & Financial
Services), PGDM Executive, PGDM Dual Country Programme (DCP) and Fellow Program in Management (FPM). The
institute also offers several management development programs, certificate courses and customised training.
Selection Procedure at IMT
In the first stage of PGDM admissions, IMT shortlists applicants on the basis of their CAT/ XAT/ GMAT scores. For
the Nagpur and Hyderabad campuses, CMAT scores are also accepted. Thereafter, the candidates need to appear for
the critical thinking test and a personal interview. The final admission list of applicants is compiled
after gauging past academic scores, diversity, CT-PI performance, entrance test scores, and job history.
CT Topics Given at IMT
In this phase, applicants are supposed to write on a particular topic in 30 minutes. Recent events or overarching
ideas often form the topics for Critical Thinking (CT) test. Within the allotted time, applicants are expected
to submit an essay of roughly 500 words, similar to the essay-writing or WAT round at other B-schools. During
past admissions, the following topics were given in the CT round:
- Crisis is the finest teacher
- Pros and Cons of Work-From-Home
- Can India's economy depend upon domestic demand to propel its economy?
- Is "Make in India" movement successful?

20-30 minutes. The following are some of the interview questions from previous PGDM admissions:
