About DoMS, IIT Madras
In 2004, the Department of Management Studies (DoMS) was established at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Madras, to facilitate the MBA programme. It was the first IIT to admit non-engineering students to its MBA course. The department also offers EMBA, PhD, and MDPs. In addition, the department extends PGPEX - VLM (Post Graduate Program For Executives For Visionary Leadership in Manufacturing) in collaboration with IIT Kanpur and IIM Calcutta.
Selection Process at DoMS, IIT Madras
In the first stage, DoMS shortlisted candidates as per their CAT scores, past academic performance, work experience, academic diversity, and gender diversity. Then these candidates have to take a personal interview round. The process may also include a written ability test (WAT). Finally, a merit list of selected candidates is put up as the composite score of the candidates, which integrates their performance in PI, CAT, and overall profile.
Besides, the CAT scores of IIT graduates with a CGPA of 8 and above are not required.

Each applicant is interviewed by a panel of two people. The panellists put forth questions about their candidate’s background, interests, and preferences.
