The selection process (CAP) for new IIMs consists of Essay Writing (WAT) followed by Personal Interview.

Why do you want to put 20 lakh into an MBA when you can invest the same into starting this business? So you are a BBA graduate, than you have already studied what we are offering why masters? What field would you like to specialise in? So you had mathematics as a subject. Have you heard about graph theory? So what were these subjects like? You must be aware about probability distribution? So what is normal distribution? What is mode? What if the distribution is continuous? What's the formula? What did you study in Business across cultures? Do you follow any business news? Do you know any recent business news? So why wasn't government allowing them to get merged?

Do you know about Bayesian Statistics? Why do you want to do MBA? What is the difference between a leader and a manager? What are you expecting from IIMs? Why do you want to come here for education? What is unique about you? So tell me what is that you do which can’t be captured within these extra-curriculars column? How many times have you made profit and how many times loss? What is Inflation? What is WPI? Do you think WPI is a better indicator or CPI is a better indicator of inflation? Do you know that Kolkata has many roads and at each of this junction you will find a statue? Can you tell me whose it is? Do you know about Rashbehari Bose road?

So how are you? Is this your first attempt at CAT? How was your experience of WAT and what did you do waiting for the interview? So what did you find out? What inputs did they give? Tell us about your work profile. What’s the full form of IDBI (candidate’s employer)? Do you read the news? So what's the latest political news? What are your thoughts on the government selling a stake of LIC? What are some of the public sector banks that are merging? What are the methods of calculating depreciation? What is the quick ratio? What does it depict? Why is human resource quality not represented on the balance sheet?
If you were the CEO of a bank and your bank is underperforming significantly. If you do not act fast, the bank could shut down in a few weeks. A guy comes in and offers you a lot of business that can save your business but you have to bribe him to get the deal. So would you bribe him? The bribe would remain a secret. You wouldn't lie even if all 300 of your employees lose their job? How would you answer your employees? Would you lie once to save 300 people from dying?
