Currently, there are 20 IIMs in India, with 14 of them counted as new or baby IIMs. All of these have a flagship two-year MBA/PGP/PGDM programme, the most sought-after course for management aspirants.
IIM Selection Process
Generally, IIMs follow a two-stage process for their MBA admissions. In the first stage, the candidates are shortlisted on the basis of their CAT scores, past academic records, work experience, and gender/academic diversity. These candidates are then called for theIIM interview and other screening rounds. In the second stage, a final admission list is prepared as per the candidates’ performance inIIM group discussion/ Essay Writing/ Personal Interview rounds and the factors considered in the first stage. While the older IIMs conduct individual admissions, most of the new and baby IIMs hold a Common Admission Process (CAP) and a Supplementary Admission Process (SAP).
