In the studio test of NID/CEED, students are asked to solve various exercises such as doodling exercise, 3D model making, wire moulding, story illustration, psychometric test, and thematic apprehension. In this article, you will learn some efficient doodling techniques to do well in a doodling test and also get an idea of the evaluation criteria.

Generally, a doodle is an unfocused or unconscious drawing made when a person's attention is otherwise occupied. In an NID Studio Test, doodling includes 15-20 frames of incomplete lines and intends to test the psych-analysis, expression, caption framing, and cleanliness. Doodles can be simple patterns or complex ones full of multiple items. In the doodling test, incomplete doodles are given in the form of curved lines or dots. The candidate is asked to create and give meaning to these incomplete lines by his creative drawing and to give a a suitable caption to his/ her drawing.

  • Even if you lack inspiration-and are not passionate about drawing- just draw what's around you. You can be simple or give details.

  • "Childish" doodles should not be avoided as they are the most expressive, funny, and cute doodles.
  • Try to draw real-life objects, but recreate them drawing either a smiling face or a cartoon. You can draw their arms and legs, noses and mouths, even some hair!
