Interview FAQ : Significance of the time of the interview

A common interview-related doubt students encounter: Does the time of the day (morning, afternoon or evening) affect my chance of getting selected in the interview? How should I change my strategy accordingly?
Let’s have a look at what happens in interviews scheduled at different times during the day:
Even though the above points need to be kept in mind, the scheduled slot is not in your hands. So, do not worry about the time factor, the evaluators are professionals from the industry. They have the experience to evaluate the candidate at any time of the day!
  • In the earlier part of the day:
    • The interviewers are relatively fresh & relaxed and take longer time in interviewing the candidates. The interviews could be as long as 30-45 minutes.
    • You may like to answer the questions in greater details.
    • The interviewers often like to cross examine your arguments.
  • In the latter half of the day:
    • The interviewers usually become a bit tired.
    • Moreover, as several interviews have to be finished in the day, the interviewers usually shorten the interviews to between 10 and 15 minutes.
    • You can try to be brief and to the point.
    • A little bit of humor and wit could also help a lot in making a positive impact on the interviewers.
    • You should try to look energetic and cheerful (and not dry, as it will have a similar effect on the interview environment).
