Cracking the BBA interview: Strategy and Tips

Your personal interview can be the make or break deal for your admission into the Bachelors of Business Administration Programme offered by the leading, esteemed institutes of the country.  It is during your interview that the panel will test you on various competencies, the most important one being- Are you the right fit for their programme?
BBA programmes will lay your foundation to become a potential future manager. Hence, there are some basic ground rules and things you need to keep in your mind when you make your way through the interview door:
  • Keep Calm
     This is one of the most important ground rules of acing your BBA interview. No matter what the situation is, you cannot lose your calm and panic inside the interview room.  An efficient manager is expected to keep his calm under the most stressful real life situations and still take efficient decisions. Panicking under a stressful question or situation that the interviewer may put you through might be a direct exit for you from the BBA programme.
  • Prepare Well
    There are certain questions that have a higher probability of being asked in a BBA interview. It will give you an edge if you do the following things before going for your interview:
    • Prepare your answers to these questions
    • Prepare an example from your past experiences that validate you answer
    Preparation will help you boost your confidence and also help you in giving better answers once you are inside the interview room. Certain questions that you can prepare for your BBA interview would be:
    • Why do you want to join this college?
    • What are your strengths and weaknesses?
    • Why do you want to choose management as a career?
    • Where do you see yourself 5 years down the lane?
    Also, every institute takes pride in the education it imparts. It may prove to be useful if you visit the institute website prior to your interview. This will help you get to know the institute and ask relevant questions to the panel in case you wish to do so.
  • Know a little bit about management
    It will be great if you are aware of the basics of management. If any questions are asked and you are able to justify your answers with knowledge, it shows the panel that you are extremely passionate about management as a career.
  • Be aware of current affairs
    It will be helpful for you as a BBA aspirant to be stay updated with what’s happening in the world, especially in the corporate sector. It shows the interviewer your seriousness and dedication towards your career choice. It can also serve as a conversation enabler between you and the panel.
    You should face your BBA interview with a lot of confidence and optimism. Even the panel knows that you have just passed out of Class XII, and hence even they won’t expect you know a lot.
